Job summary

MedVet in Mountain View, CA, is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician (Contingent) to join our fast-paced emergency team. You’ll record rounds, triage patients, assist the DVM, monitor anesthesia, and perform in-house lab work while providing client education and nursing care.

State Registered Veterinary Technician license is preferred, with prior emergency experience and strong drug calculation skills. Evening and weekend differentials enhance base pay in a dynamic ER setting.

Qualifications

• Must have veterinary technician license or be eligible.
• Prior veterinary experience required, especially in emergency settings.
• Strong calculation skills for drugs and infusions.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

Job Title

Emergency Veterinary Technician (Contingent)

Compensation

The hiring range for this position is $27.25 - $44.00/hour based on skillset and experience. We support our evening caregivers with lucrative shift differentials:

• Hours worked between 8pm-11:59pm = base pay +$4/hour
• Hours worked between 12am-8am = base pay +$6/hour
• Hours worked on Saturday and Sunday (day or night) = base pay +$3/hour + any applicable differentials.

What you’ll do

Who you are

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessaryAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
