Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced ER team in Garden City, Idaho. You will assist DVMs, monitor anesthesia, perform in-house lab work, and deliver client education for home care and medications.

Prior vet tech experience, and a State Registered Vet Tech license preferred, with strong math skills and excellent communication. Flexible hours and ability to handle stress are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in drug calculations, dosing, and unit conversions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including home care instructions and medications
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Technician

What you'll do:

• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
