Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician for a fast-paced ER environment in Idaho. You will assist in patient assessment, anesthesia, and critical care under the supervision of veterinarians and the patient care team.

The role requires a State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred and prior emergency experience. Excellent communication with clients and teammates is essential, as is the ability to multitask and stay organized during busy shifts.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, dosing, CRIs).
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to handle overtime when needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Coordinate with care team on treatment plans, client communication and nursing care.
• Provide client education on home care, medications and hospital updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients and monitor anesthesia/sedation.

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
