Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Nursing Veterinary Assistant to join our emergency and specialty team in Cincinnati, OH. The role involves supervision of hospitalized patients, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, patient recovery support and client education during night shifts.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Experience in nursing or critical care is desirable.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, dosages, unit conversions).

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Partner with patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and hospital updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Perform in-house lab testing and prepare samples for external labs.
