Job summary

Standiford Veterinary Center in Modesto, CA is hiring a Full-Time Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our ER team. You will work closely with doctors and technicians to improve patient care, assist with treatments, triage patients, and maintain clean treatment areas.

The role requires at least 1 year of ECC/urgent care experience, strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to handle a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of professional experience as a veterinary assistant in ECC or urgent care.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and stay calm under stress.
• Team player with patience and a positive attitude.
• Detail oriented due to quality medicine.
• Able to lift and restrain pets up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostics and procedures.
• Handle animal restraint and movement.
• Obtain health history from clients with accurate documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas.
• Restock and organize medical supplies.
• Administer treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.

Standiford Veterinary Center is Looking for a Full-Time Emergency Veterinary Assistant to Join Our Team!

About the position: Veterinary Assistants are valuable members of our medical team and play a crucial role in patient care and client service. You will work closely with doctors and technicians to increase the efficiency within our hospital as well as the level of care we provide as a team. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Animal handling and restraint
• Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures
• Obtain health history from clients, ensuring documentation is accurate and complete
• Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas
• Restock and organize medical supplies
• Financial discussion with clients, including estimates and inputting invoices
• Administer treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
• Collaborate with other nurses and veterinarians to provide advanced patient care
• Clear communication within departments the ER department as needed for transfer of patient care
• Fill medication through in-hospital pharmacy or written prescription
• Complete treatment plans on the whiteboard for continual patient care
• Triage patients

Skills and Qualifications:

• 1-year professional experience as a veterinary assistant in ECC or urgent care
• Must possess excellent communication skills, the ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks
• Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environmentand able to handle stress in a calm manner
• Must be a team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude.
• Must be detail oriented due to the high level of quality medicine.
• Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day.
• Overnight shift: 4/10hr shifts/alternative workweek schedule
• Pay: $20.00-$24.00/hr depending on experience
