Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support the team from day one, helping triage patients, comfort pet parents, and learn the ropes in real time at our busy ER hospital.

You will work with credentialed techs and veterinarians, grow into advanced responsibilities, and participate in guided training pathways to expand skills in anesthesia, ultrasound, and catheterization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, guiding them to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics including bloodwork and imaging.
• Work with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, transfusions, and meds.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings; participate in rounds.
