Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced, 24/7 ER team. From triage to treatments and patient support, you’ll comfort pet parents and learn alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians in real time.

You’ll grow through guided training pathways, with opportunities to progress into anesthesia support and other advanced duties. We seek empathetic, team‑oriented individuals who can stand for long hours, handle a noisy environment, and collaborate with a diverse

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software / EMR.
• Excellent communicator when collaborating with pet parents and team.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, diagnostics, including bloodwork and imaging.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation setup.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, medications.
• Support during all care moments, inpatient or outpatient.
• Join rounds to maintain continuity of care; learn CPR and RECOVER training.
• Grow into advanced duties through guided training pathways.
