Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health in Vancouver, WA seeks a Veterinary Assistant - Emergency (Day) for a full-time position in a 24/7 emergency hospital just outside Portland, OR. Expect day shifts with additional overnight and weekend differentials and rotating holiday shifts.

The role involves direct patient care, imaging assistance, lab work, and client communication in a high-acuity environment. Two years of veterinary experience are required with ER preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in veterinary medicine; ER experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain Veterinary Medication Clerks License upon hire and maintain it.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the emergency department alongside licensed technicians and veterinarians.
• Assist with radiographic procedures.
• Prepare and run lab work.
• Obtain accurate patient histories and communicate with clients.
• Accurate record-keeping and documentation.
• Discharge patients and manage restraint for procedures.
• Perform treatments in a timely manner and provide nursing care.
• Handle basic drug calculations and fluid therapy initiation.
• Work rotating holidays and participate in on-call rotation.
