Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Washington, DC is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinarian. You will handle ER cases, including surgeries and exotics, with mentorship and ongoing education programs. Expect to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused hospital with a strong team culture and opportunities for growth.

You will assess patients, communicate with clients, and contribute to diagnostic plans, while participating in VEG Education programs and maintaining high standards of care.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree is required.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Thrive in team-oriented environments and fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients on arrival as part of VEG triage approach.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exams.
• Perform physical exams, ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies.
• Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans and discuss with clients.
• Prepare estimates and present them to clients.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Educate clients on tests, treatments and aftercare.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopy.
