VEG ER for Pets in Washington, DC is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinarian who thrives under pressure and loves helping both people and their pets. Qualifications

• Must hold a DVM or equivalent degree and be licensed or eligible to practice veterinary medicine in the United States.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Thrive in team-oriented environments and mentor others.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, lift up to 25 kg, and work on the hospital floor.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone
• See patients right away as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our unique, customer-centered approach
• Gather the signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam
• Conduct physical examinations and required investigations (ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies)
• Complete a diagnosis to create a treatment plan
• Communicate diagnoses and treatment options to customers
• Prepare estimates and present them to customers
• Create and review medical records for accuracy
• Explain the value of tests and treatments to customers
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
• Perform endoscopic procedures
• Educate customers on after-care and preventative measures
