Job summary

PetVet Care Centers seeks an Emergency Veterinarian for the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island Referral & Emergency Hospital in NY. You will join a team of board-certified surgeons, internists, oncologists, and critical care veterinarians delivering high-quality care 24/7.

The role offers a flexible schedule with up to 3 shifts per week and a very competitive compensation package with sign-on/retention bonuses, plus comprehensive benefits and relocation options.

Qualifications

• DVM from an accredited college.
• Current State Veterinary License.
• DEA registration obtained and maintained.
• 1+ year of experience in veterinary emergency practice.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Excellent surgical and dental skills.
• Team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication with staff and clients.
• Compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient exams and medical work-ups.
• Client communication and education.
• Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Prescribe medications and follow controlled substance protocols.
• Promote teamwork and staff efficiency.
• Coordinate with Hospital Manager on weekly priorities.
• Monitor hospital protocols from intake to discharge.
• Participate in practice management updates and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
