Our client is a privately owned, 24-hour veterinary hospital seeking a Full-Time Associate Veterinarian to join its team. Caring for cats and dogs, the hospital offers a combination of general practice, urgent care, and emergency medicine, providing a varied clinical environment that extends beyond traditional general practice. This opportunity is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates.
The Associate Veterinarian will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical, surgical, and preventative care while building strong relationships with clients through clear communication and education. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive physical examinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, and performing routine soft tissue surgeries and dentistry where applicable.
The veterinarian will also maintain accurate medical records, promote preventative healthcare, follow hospital protocols, and collaborate with the wider veterinary team to ensure a high standard of patient care while contributing to a positive, supportive, and team-oriented working environment.
The position follows a four-day working schedule, with shifts on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Saturday from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During daytime hours, the practice sees a combination of scheduled general practice appointments and walk-in urgent care and emergency cases. From 6:00pm, the hospital transitions to an emergency and walk-in-only service overnight.
This privately owned veterinary facility provides general practice, urgent care, emergency medicine, surgery, and hospitalization. Facilities include a surgical operating room, diagnostic imaging capabilities, an in-house laboratory, and treatment areas for emergency and hospitalized patients. Patients requiring continued treatment or monitoring can remain hospitalized, with overnight emergency coverage available.
Diagnostic equipment includes digital radiography, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory testing, including CBC, chemistry, and urinalysis. These capabilities support routine wellness investigations, sick-patient workups, urgent care, and emergency diagnostics. The hospital also has surgical and anesthetic equipment supporting routine and emergency procedures, alongside blood transfusion capabilities for patients requiring emergency stabilization and critical care.
Clinical services encompass general practice, preventative medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, dentistry, and hospitalization. The daytime caseload includes routine wellness examinations, vaccinations, preventative healthcare, sick-patient consultations, medical diagnostics, dentistry, spaying and neutering, and general surgical procedures.
Alongside scheduled appointments, the hospital manages walk-in urgent care and emergency presentations throughout the day. These include more complex medical and surgical cases such as GDVs, pyometras, cystotomies, critically ill patients, and those requiring blood transfusions. Advanced neurological and other specialty-level cases can be referred to specialist hospitals when appropriate.
The combination of routine consultations, unscheduled emergency presentations, surgical procedures, and hospitalized patient care provides an opportunity to practice a broad range of veterinary medicine. The hospital also places an emphasis on collaborative medicine, clinical development, and hands‑on mentorship, with opportunities for veterinarians to strengthen their medical and surgical skills through case discussions and support from the wider clinical team.
The hospital has a five-veterinarian team supported by more than 15 veterinary technicians and 15 additional support staff members, representing a wider support team of over 30 employees.
The practice is led by its owner, who takes a hands‑on approach to clinical leadership and enjoys teaching and supporting newer veterinarians. Both experienced veterinarians and new graduates are welcomed, with mentorship available and a collaborative approach to case management.
Experienced RVTs and support staff assist with patient care, diagnostic testing, surgical procedures, anesthesia, hospitalized patient monitoring, and client communication. Veterinarians are encouraged to discuss cases, develop their clinical skills, and build confidence across general practice, urgent care, and emergency medicine.
The hospital is looking for a compassionate, team‑oriented veterinarian who is comfortable multitasking in a busy clinical environment and enjoys practicing a broad range of medicine. Strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues are particularly valued.
