Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Sarasota is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role offers an hourly pay band of $21.00–$42.00, dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

The Emergency Veterinary Technician position involves anesthesia induction, monitoring, triage, radiography, CPR, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, feeding tubes, and mentoring teammates while addressing client concerns with empathy.

Qualifications

• Experienced veterinary technician in emergency/critical care.
• Current anesthesia monitoring competency and safety emphasis.
• Ability to mentor and train other staff.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temp, heart rate, resp rate, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges for vital signs and oxygen saturation.
• Monitor and interpret blood pressure and other vitals; alert Veterinarian as needed.
• Identify patients at risk of arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosing and administer medications via appropriate routes.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
