Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced ER team in Columbus, OH. The role involves assisting veterinarians, triaging patients, and providing high-level nursing care and client education.

Ideal candidates hold a State Registered Veterinary Technician license, with emergency experience preferred, and must be comfortable with comparing drug calculations and anesthesia procedures.

Qualifications

• State-registered veterinary technician license is required.
• Prior veterinary experience, emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in drug calculations and CRI/unit conversions.
• Flexible with work hours and able to work overtime when needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
