PetVet Care Centers, Carolina Veterinary Specialists - Matthews, seeks an Emergency Veterinary Technician or Assistant for the 3rd shift. Join a fast-paced team delivering high-quality emergency care while supporting clients and their pets.

The role involves patient assessment, diagnostic support, anesthesia monitoring, and high standards of care. Competitive pay starts at $25+/hr for technicians and $22+/hr for assistants, with nightly shift differentials, in Matthews, NC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in General Practice, Emergency, Specialty, or Urgent Care veterinary settings.
• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification preferred.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments by examination, interviews, and diagnostics.
• Provide hands-on care: vitals, samples, meds, vaccines, wound care.
• Assist veterinarians during exams and surgical procedures.
• Prepare and dispense medications as directed.
• Maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation.
• Monitor patients for illness or distress; ensure cleanliness and hydration.
• Maintain hospital sanitation and sterilization standards.
• Manage inventory and order medical supplies.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners and the veterinary team.
• Assist in emergency/ICU procedures: monitor vitals, IVs, blood draws, X‑rays.
• Clean wounds, apply dressings, administer injections; participate in on-call rotations.
