Job summary

Animal Emergency Hospital in Burton, MI is hiring an Experienced Veterinary Assistant. Starting pay is $20 per hour with up to $5 per hour shift differential.

AAHA Accredited facility offers a fast-paced emergency environment with hands-on patient care and collaboration with veterinarians and licensed technicians. You will perform IV catheter placements, blood draws, data collection, and patient monitoring while supporting the care team during treatments and procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years as a Veterinary Assistant, emergency or specialty experience preferred.
• Confidence in IV catheter placement and jugular blood draws.
• Strong patient handling and restraint skills.
• Ability to stay calm, focused, and compassionate in high-stress situations.
• Ability to participate in an overnight shift rotation.

Responsibilities

• Confidently place IV catheters.
• Draw blood and assist with diagnostics.
• Provide hands-on care and monitoring for hospitalized and critical patients.
• Assist veterinarians and Licensed Veterinary Technicians during treatments and procedures.
• Support patient comfort, safety, and recovery in a fast-paced setting.
• Help maintain an efficient, organized treatment area.
