Job summary

VetCheck Pet Urgent Care Center in Georgetown, TX is seeking experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our fast-paced emergency team without overnight shifts, offering a balanced schedule and a collaborative environment. Applicants should have prior veterinary nursing/tech experience and strong client-education skills.

You will assist veterinarians, triage patients, monitor anesthesia, perform diagnostics, and provide compassionate care while explaining treatment plans to owners.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency or urgent care is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, and procedures.
• Ability to triage and recognizes critical emergencies.
• Competence with diagnostic tools and anesthesia monitoring.
• Excellent communication with clients and team under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Quickly evaluate incoming patients and prioritize by urgency.
• Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, and emergency procedures.
• Administer medications, fluids, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Monitor anesthesia and post-operative recovery.
• Collect and prepare lab samples; operate radiology and in-house labs.
• Explain treatments and discharge instructions to pet owners.
• Maintain patient records and ensure compliance with policies.
