Job summary

MedVet, a fast-growing Emergency and Specialty provider, is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our clinical team in Akron, OH. The role includes night shifts (Thu-Sat 8p-8:30a) with a hiring range of $17.00-$28.00/hr based on experience, and a dynamic environment focused on compassionate patient care.

You'll collaborate with the patient care team, assist with anesthesia, monitoring, labs, and client education, while supporting a fast-paced ER setting.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions, etc.).
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
