Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Spring, TX is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced emergency department. You will triage emergency cases, assist DVMs, perform diagnostics, and help care for patients.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care per hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, side effects, and monitor response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exams and record vitals and assessments.
• Knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist ASA I/II patients.
• Stay current on RECOVER CPR guidelines and assist as directed.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart rate, respiratory rate and other vitals.
• Possess working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment for ASA I/II patients.
• Remain current on CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency as assigned.
