Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Clearwater, FL, seeks a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant for its fast-paced emergency department. You will triage cases, assist DVM with estimates, perform diagnostics, and help move patients to ICU or inpatient care.

This role involves nursing care, patient rounds reporting, meds administration, phlebotomy, physical exams, anesthesia support, CPR readiness, and strong client communication.

Qualifications

• Veterinary assistant experience or training preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced emergency setting.
• Strong communication with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to emergency patients per standards.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during rounds.
• Understand medication classifications and monitor therapy.
• Administer medications and durations as prescribed.
• Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture as needed.
• Perform physical exams including vital signs and assessments.
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring for ASA I/II patients.
• Stay current with RECOVER CPR guidelines and roles.
