Job summary

Resurrection Medical Center is seeking a Unit Secretary for the Emergency Unit in Chicago. The role supports the Director/Manager, aiding communication and documentation in a fast-paced setting with a 12-hour shift schedule.

Responsibilities include transcribing orders in the absence of CPOE/EMR, preparing patient charts, ordering supplies, and assisting nursing staff with indirect patient care. A High School Diploma and BLS are required, with prior acute care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required or relevant experience.
• BLS certification (ARC or AHA) within 30 days and maintained.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Previous experience in an acute care setting or physician’s practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes physician orders from records with notation and nursing staff approval in absence of CPOE/EMR.
• Facilitates communication needs of the department and prepares/compiles records daily.
• Orders supplies for the unit and completes patient charts with necessary forms.
• Assists nursing staff with duties involving indirect patient care.
