Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina offers a one-year Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship designed to prepare graduates of Emergency Medicine residency programs to become ultrasound program directors and leaders in Emergency Ultrasound (EUS).

The program requires completion of an ACGME-accredited EM residency, board eligibility/certification, and SC medical licensure with hospital credentialing. Fellows will participate in education, research, and hands-on clinical care across MUSC EDs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• South Carolina medical license and hospital credentialing required prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Attend weekly EUS conference and demonstrate understanding of the ultrasound curriculum.
• Teach in both lab and lecture settings and instruct during COM ultrasound labs.
• Deliver lectures during resident rotations and at Emergency Medicine conferences.
• Co-lead curriculum development and organize COM student elective rotation in Emergency Ultrasound.
• Attend at least one national meeting during the fellowship and perform a minimum of 1,000 scans per year.
• Complete two ultrasound scanning shifts each week in the Adult ED, Pediatric ED, or ICU.
• Participate in at least one IRB-approved research project and complete one QA project in Emergency Medicine.
• Provide hands-on clinical care at MUSC EDs and maintain 752 clinical hours per year with moonlighting options.
