Job summary

Mount Sinai is seeking a Physician Assistant to support emergency medicine under physician supervision. The role delivers direct patient care in the ED from triage through disposition.

Qualifications

• Completion of a NYS-approved PA training program and a BS in Physician Assistant studies.
• 1–2 years of emergency medicine experience preferred but not required.
• Registration as a New York State Physician Assistant is required.
• NCCPA certification; ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Basic MS Office skills.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC).

Responsibilities

• Participate in initial evaluation and management of ED patients from presentation through disposition.
• Take complete history and perform physical examination; order/interpret labs and radiology; initiate treatment.
• Perform procedures (e.g., wound repair, IV lines, arterial sampling) as needed.
• Prescribe medications per NYS regulations; may countersign for controlled substances.
• Consult with attending physicians to ensure high quality patient care.
• Arrange follow-ups and obtain informed consent; inform patients of post-discharge care.
• Document entries in the EMR (H&P, procedures, medical decisions).
• Engage in CME for PA certification (lectures/conferences).
• Perform the medical screening exam and initial disposition orders after discussion with supervising attendings.
