Job summary

Mount Sinai is seeking a Physician Assistant to participate in the evaluation and management of ED patients under physician supervision. You will perform histories, exams, order tests, start treatments, and assist in diverse procedures.

The role requires NYS PA registration, NCCPA certification, ACLS and PALS, and proficiency with EPIC EMR and MS Office. Experience in emergency medicine preferred but not required; CME and training support provided.

Qualifications

• Completion of NYS-approved program for training of physician assistant, minimum Bachelor of Science program/degree in Physician Assistant studies.
• 1 to 2-years of emergency medicine experience is preferred however, it is not required to apply for the position.
• Registration required with New York State as Physician Assistant or Specialist Assistant.
• Certification with NCCPA; American Heart Association or equivalent as provider of ACLS and PALS.
• Basic Microsoft Office suite experience required.
• Knowledge on how to use an electronic medical record such as EPIC.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the initial evaluation and management of ED patients from their initial presentation through disposition decision.
• Writes appropriately authorized prescriptions and orders medications in accordance with NYS education regulations; may prescribe controlled substances under appropriate physician countersignature.
• Confers with attending physicians to ensure delivery of optimum quality of patient care.
• Documents appropriate entries in patient’s electronic medical record including history & physical, procedures and medical decision making.
• Completes and documents participation in continuing medical education for physician assistants.
• Perform the medical screening exam and can place initial disposition order after discussion with supervisory attending.
