Position Overview

This position provides technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet individual patient needs in assigned areas.

Essential Job Functions

• Collect, report, and document clinical data: vital signs, height and weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, specimens
• Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing per policies, COLA, and CLIA regulations
• Assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee, based on the patient’s plan of care
• Provide superficial wound care
• Ensure patient safety related to age and condition
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
• Maintain a clean, safe environment; perform and assist with aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, infection control measures
• Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge

Other Job Functions

• Prepare patients and chaperone during examinations/procedures, assist with treatments
• Maintain supplies in patient care areas
• Assist with patient restraints, monitor and document related data, report emergencies and unusual behaviors
• Travel to facility locations as needed
• Attend staff and mandated meetings
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; completion of one of the following:
• Medical Corpsman program + 1 year applicable experience
• EMT-P, AEMT, or Licensed Paramedic course + 1 year applicable experience
• EMT-B + 1+ years ER technician or hospital experience [Oklahoma, North TX, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania]
• First-year nursing education + 1 year applicable experience
• 3+ years ER experience as an ER Technician [Pittsburgh market]
• 3+ years as a CNA with hospital experience [Wisconsin]
• 3+ years as a Certified Anesthesia Tech/OR Tech [Wisconsin]

• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) required
• ACLS/ALS certifications preferred in most markets; required in some
• PALS certification strongly preferred
• Experience with IV start, phlebotomy, EKG initiation preferred
• Fluency in English, both written and oral, required
