Job Summary: Geisinger is proud to offer an Emergency Room Technician I position with a $1500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $15.60, with increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts! We also offer up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

Job Duties:

  • Performs basic patient care under supervision of the Registered Nurse and maintains the patient care and unit environment consistent with policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Meets qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
  • Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
  • Triages patient care by identifying, observing, and documenting the physical needs of patients and families.
  • Reports changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assists patient care staff with procedures such as wound care, splinting, and EKGs.
  • Provides patient care related to rehabilitation to carry out multidisciplinary care plans.
  • Performs unit desk clerk functions when needed.
  • Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens according to policy and physician orders.
  • Uses two patient identifiers with proper labeling.
  • Performs blood glucose monitoring, urine and stool testing, and assists with transporting patients and specimens.
  • Transports medications to and from pharmacy and blood products to and from Blood Bank.
  • Assists patients with daily activities and positioning.
  • Manages non-controlled medication storage and transport as necessary.
  • Coordinates relations between care providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The role involves fulfilling all job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies and procedures. Additional competencies outlined in department-specific orientation are essential for job performance.

Position Details:

  • Full-Time, Evening Shift (36 hours/week)
  • Three 12-hour shifts, 11am - 11:30pm
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation required

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Specialty Training Program preferred.
