Job summary

Munson Healthcare in northern Michigan is seeking an Emergency Room Technician I for day shift to join our emergency department team.

You will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and support ED operations on a fast-paced unit, coordinating patient flow and assisting with admissions and discharges.

Excellent communication skills and a commitment to patient safety are essential; eligibility for benefits and growth opportunities are part of our team culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year emergency/urgent care/nursing assistant experience or college education equivalent.
• BCLS certification is required.
• EMT licensure preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate the criticality of patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient flow.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow infection control practices.
• Coordinate with physicians, nursing staff and Environmental Services; perform clerical duties as needed.

Maintains professional working relationships with patients, families, nursing staff, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, including assisting with comfort measures, recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition, documenting observations accurately, and assisting with procedures. Communicates effectively with patients' families, maintains patient confidentiality, and follows standard precautions and infection control practices. Coordinates patient flow by assisting with admissions, transfers, discharges, and communication with appropriate departments. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties, including answering telephones, processing messages, obtaining medical records, filing patient documentation, coordinating room readiness with Environmental Services, maintaining office supplies, communicating with physician offices, responding to patient call systems, and completing other assigned responsibilities in support of efficient unit operations.

What’s Required

Minimum one-year emergency/urgent care/nursing assistant experience required or college education equivalent.

Maintains BCLS certification.

EMT licensure preferred.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Must possess the ability to evaluate the criticality of patient needs.

Must possess superior customer relation skills.
