Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas.
Essential Job Functions
- Collect, report, and document clinical data, including vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and specimen collection.
- Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing according to policies, procedures, COLA, and CLIA regulations.
- Assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee, based on the patient’s plan of care.
- Provide superficial wound care and ensure patient safety related to age and condition.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure a clean, safe environment, adhering to aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
- Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
Other Job Functions
- Prepare patients and chaperone during examinations or assist with other treatments.
- Maintain supplies in patient care areas.
- Assist with patient restraints, monitor and report emergencies, and document related data.
- Travel to all facility locations as required.
- Attend staff and mandated meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of one of the following: Medical Corpsman program with one year of experience; EMT-P, AEMT, or Licensed Paramedic course with one year of experience; EMT-B with one year of ER or hospital experience (Oklahoma, North TX, Wisconsin & PA markets only); current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program with one year of experience; 3+ years ER experience as an ER Technician (Pittsburgh market); 3+ years as a CNA with hospital experience (Wisconsin); or 3+ years as a Certified Anesthesia Tech/OR Tech (Wisconsin).
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
- ACLS/ALS certifications are strongly preferred, required in some markets.
- PALS certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience with IV starts, phlebotomy, and EKG initiation is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
