Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs is seeking an Emergency Room Tech to support safe, cost-efficient patient care in the ED.

You will perform delegated tasks from the RN or physician and assist with transport, vital signs, and clerical duties to maintain smooth patient flow. Responsibilities include direct and indirect patient care, updating the EDTB, and using hospital information systems while ensuring professional communication with patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 30 days of start.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN/Medical Staff and monitors vital signs.
• Assists with patient transport, lifting, and general clerical tasks.
• Uses hospital information systems and documents ED activities.
• Discharges patients and records charges; maintains patient flow on EDTB.
• Communicates professionally with patients, families and staff.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As an Emergency Room Tech, you will support safe, cost-efficient patient care in the Emergency Department, performing delegated functions from the RN or Physician.

Every day you will conduct selected diagnostics and procedures, assist with patient transport and lifting, and provide general clerical and cleaning support to the unit.

To be successful in this role you will effectively execute delegated tasks, support unit operations, and contribute to a safe and efficient environment.

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by the RN and Medical Staff. Monitors and records vital signs, observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional condition and reports any changes to the nursing or medical staff.
• Provides indirect patient care. Escorting patient to the exam room. Performs and documents general therapeutic/diagnostic measures. Acts as transporter. Assists with updating the Emergency Department Tracking Board/Care Manager (EDTB).
• Acts as unit clerk; Utilizes hospital information systems according to the hospital policy. Discharges patients and enters charges for patients in a timely matter. Utilizes the EDTB to improve patient flow. Performs order data entry as assigned by the nurse or physician.
• Communicates with patients, family, physicians, other departments, unit personnel, and peers in an accurate, courteous and professional manner.
