Job summary

CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs is seeking an Emergency Room Tech to support safe, cost-efficient patient care in the Emergency Department. You will perform delegated tasks from the RN or Physician and assist with patient transport and clerical duties.

Daily responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, documenting changes, updating the EDTB, and helping improve patient flow. This role requires teamwork with nurses and physicians to maintain a calm, professional ED environment.

Qualifications

• CPR certification required at hire.
• Certified Nursing Assistant license/certification for IA at hire.
• Ability to perform delegated patient care and clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by the RN/Medical Staff and monitors vital signs.
• Assists with patient transport, rooming, and general therapeutic/diagnostic measures.
• Acts as unit clerk and uses hospital information systems; updates EDTB and enters charges.
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians and staff in a courteous, professional manner.
• Supports ED operations and contributes to a safe, efficient environment.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Emergency Room Tech, you will support safe, cost-efficient patient care in the Emergency Department, performing delegated functions from the RN or Physician.
Every day you will conduct selected diagnostics and procedures, assist with patient transport and lifting, and provide general clerical and cleaning support to the unit.
To be successful in this role you will effectively execute delegated tasks, support unit operations, and contribute to a safe and efficient environment.

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by the RN and Medical Staff. Monitors and records vital signs, observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional condition and reports any changes to the nursing or medical staff
• Provides indirect patient care. Escorting patient to the exam room. Performs and documents general therapeutic/diagnostic measures. Acts as transporter. Assists with updating the Emergency Department Tracking Board/Care Manager (EDTB)
• Acts as unit clerk; Utilizes hospital information systems according to the hospital policy. Discharges patients and enters charges for patients in a timely matter. Utilizes the EDTB to improve patient flow. Performs order data entry as assigned by the nurse or physician
• Communicates with patients, family, physicians, other departments, unit personnel, and peers in an accurate, courteous and professional manner
• Demonstrates a commitment to patients, nursing staff, and Emergency Department in accordance with the team performance expectations
