Job summary

Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, NJ, seeks an ED Tech to support patient care in the Emergency Department during evening shifts. This unlicensed role works under the supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse and helps maintain a safe environment.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or Equivalent, CNA certification (preferred), BLS within 30 days, and at least six months of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Current CNA certificate preferred.
• BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care in the Emergency Department under the direction of the ED RN/Charge Nurse.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe environment and support unit operations.

Responsibilities

The ED Tech in the Emergency Room is an unlicensed assistive person who assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice; Assists in maintenance of a safe environment and performs under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current. Possess knowledge of Medical terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current.
