Job summary

Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, NJ, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Emergency Department on a per diem basis. The role supports activities of daily living, basic nursing care, and maintains safety under the charge of an RN.

Ideal candidates have current BLS, knowledge of medical terminology, and at least 6 months in acute care or mental health settings. Behavioral Violence Prevention certification within 6 months is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current BLS (AHA) certification required on hire and maintained.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute care hospital or mental health unit preferred.
• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care in the Emergency Department.
• Maintain a safe environment under RN supervision and team direction.
• Support non-critical patients and assist in care delivery as needed.

Responsibilities

he Certified Nursing Assistant in the Emergency Department is a licensed assistive person who assists with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-critical patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

2. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.

3. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or mental health unit preferred

4. Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current.

Pay Transparency

Saint Michaels Medical Center offers competitive compensation and the current compensation range for this role is $19.92. Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
