Othello Community Hospital in Othello, WA is seeking a Part-Time Nursing Assistant Certified for the Day Shift in the Emergency Room. The CNA will assist in providing front-line patient care under RN/LPN supervision, performing duties from hygiene to vital signs and comfort.

Requirements include current WA CNA certification, BLS, at least 6 months CNA experience; HS diploma preferred. This role is non-benefit earning, 12 hours per week, 6am-6pm Mondays.

Qualifications

  • Current Washington State CNA certification required.
  • BLS certification required (AHA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 6 months of CNA experience; ER/AC/OB settings preferred but not required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Able to follow and carry out directions; acceptable references from previous employers.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting the hygiene, nutritional, elimination, activity, comfort and safety needs of patients.
  • Obtains and reports vital signs; intake and output.
  • Obtains supplies/equipment as necessary from designated departments.
  • Performs point of care testing.
  • May be assigned to provide care and functional assistance to other patient care areas.

OPEN POSITION: Emergency Room Nursing Assistant Certified – Part-Time/Day-Shift (Every Monday)

Othello Community Hospital is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Day Shift, Nursing Assistant Certified to join our dynamic healthcare team in our Emergency Room. The Nursing Assistant Certified functions within their scope of practice under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to assist in providing care and implementing delegated activities of the nursing plan. They demonstrate an understanding of basic nursing skills and skills unique to the assigned clinical unit (s).

  • Location: Othello Community Hospital, Othello, WA
  • Departments: Emergency Room
  • Schedule: 12hrs/Week, (6am-6pm), Days, Every Monday
  • Status: Part-Time; (non-benefit earning)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meeting the hygiene, nutritional, elimination, activity, comfort and safety needs of patients;
  • Obtains and reports/records vital signs; intake and output,
  • Obtains supplies/equipment as necessary from designated departments;
  • Performs point of care testing.
  • This Nursing Assistant Certified may be assigned to provide care and functional assistance to other patient care areas.

The Nursing Assistant Certified individualizes patient care using age related concepts based on the unit population assigned for neonates (0-1 month), toddlers (1-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years), school age (6-12), adolescents (12-17), and adults (18-66+) by applying age related concepts…. including knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, collection of data, treatments and care typically required. Utilizes age related concepts when communicating with patients and families, maintaining a safe environment and using medical equipment and supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current Washington State CNA certification required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (AHA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 months of CNA experience, Previous experience in ER, AC, or OB settings preferred but not required
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Able to follow and carry out directions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Work is active; requires frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs., occasionally lifting and carrying 20-35 lbs., occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, and pushing and pulling heavy equipment.

  • Requires long periods of standing and walking, with frequent reaching at or above shoulder height, twisting and stooping/bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, or climbing to perform patient care duties.
  • Occasional sitting. Needs finger and hand dexterity adequate to handle and manipulate equipment and instruments.
  • Needs hearing and vision acuity adequate to avoid errors when posting information in the electronic record and troubleshoot/problem solve equipment issues.

Emotional Demands: Able to alter plans / routines when unexpected, stressful situations and multiple interruptions occur without projecting stress / frustration that would adversely affect the work environment.

  • Able to tolerate high frustration level while working with culturally diverse populations, age groups, psychiatric, intoxicated or uncooperative patients.
  • Must be adaptable and able to work in a setting where there are patients who are very ill and who may be dying.

Communications: Able to communicate fluently (speaking and writing) using the English language.
