Responsibilities include triage, patient assessment, procedures support, documentation, family education, and coordination of transfers. ACLS/PALS protocols apply to urgent care and trauma cases with a focus on safety and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license and current certifications.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC are required or preferred.
• Mandatory Reporter training completed.

Responsibilities

• Triage patients to determine severity and priority.
• Assist patients to exam rooms, evaluate and document findings.
• Prepare patients for exams or procedures and assist physicians.
• Provide direct patient care and monitor outcomes.
• Perform head-to-toe assessments across age groups.
• Monitor hemodynamics and interpret results, respond per ACLS/PALS.
• Maintain nursing documentation and discharge instructions.
• Educate patients and families, review discharge info.
• Explain delays and manage transfers when needed.
• Adhere to safety, infection prevention, and department policies.
• Supervise nursing students and EMTs; participate in competency training.
