MedVet in Akron, OH seeks an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced ER team. You will handle rounds, triage, and nurse care for hospitalized patients, while collaborating with DVMs on treatment plans and client education.

We offer a sign-on bonus and a competitive hourly range based on experience, with shift starts on Wednesdays through Saturdays. Excellent teamwork and adaptability are essential in this high-energy environment.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license is required.
• Prior veterinary experience is required; emergency experience is preferred.
• Proficient in calculations for drugs, CRIs and conversions.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Collaborate with the patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Educate clients on home care, meds, and hospital updates.
• Assist DVM with assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house lab testing and prep samples for outside labs.

We are looking for: Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician

Proposed Schedule: Wednesday-Saturday 10p-8:30a

This role has a hiring range of $18.75-35.00/hr based on experience.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
