Elevate Your Career with a Premier Academic Institution

The Department of Radiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites exceptional Emergency Radiologists to join one of the nation's leading academic health systems. Whether you are an early-career physician seeking mentorship and growth or an experienced radiologist looking for your next challenge, UNC offers a unique opportunity to build a rewarding career while making a meaningful impact on patient care, education, and discovery.

At UNC Radiology, you'll practice at the intersection of clinical excellence, innovation, and collaboration. As part of a nationally recognized academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center, you'll work alongside outstanding colleagues in Emergency Medicine, Trauma Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and other multidisciplinary teams, helping deliver life-saving diagnoses when every second matters.

Why UNC Radiology?

Our Emergency Radiology Division plays a vital role in the care of patients across North Carolina. Faculty interpret a wide range of emergency imaging studies, including radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy-supporting the rapid diagnosis and treatment of trauma, surgical emergencies, and acute medical conditions.

You'll join a collegial and growing division that values teamwork, professional development, and work-life balance. Faculty enjoy a focused emergency imaging practice with:

  • No procedural responsibilities
  • No requirement to interpret pediatric imaging studies
  • No expectation to interpret MRI studies outside division practice needs
  • Opportunities for evening and overnight scheduling
  • A highly desirable 7-days-on, 14-days-off schedule

Flexible work arrangements, including virtual and hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. This position may be eligible for a virtual or hybrid work arrangement, in accordance with UNC policy and subject to approval.

A Place to Grow

As a member of our faculty, you'll help educate the next generation of radiologists, working closely with residents, fellows, and medical students in one of the country's premier academic environments. Faculty are encouraged to pursue scholarly interests, quality improvement initiatives, leadership opportunities, and research collaborations across the School of Medicine and UNC Health.

Whether your passion is clinical excellence, education, innovation, or research, UNC provides the resources and support to help you thrive.
