Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Master's level Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner’s Program issued by an accredited college or university.
• Active California RN license.
• Active California Nurse Practitioner license.
• Nurse Practitioner medication furnishing number issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
• DEA registration certificate (Controlled Substances).
• Valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assumes ongoing responsibility for each patient from initial assessment to optimization and ongoing care across the life span.
• Performs complete physical examinations and orders/ interprets diagnostic tests.
• Diagnoses and treats acute, chronic, and episodic conditions within scope and specialty.
• Establishes and documents plan of care with patient/family input and maintains records.
• Initiates medication therapy and evaluates effectiveness.
• Discharges inpatients in a timely manner and coordinates patient transfers within/outside the County system.
