Job summary

West Valley-Mission Community College District seeks an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for a short-term, temporary assignment under the District Police Chief to oversee planning, coordination, education, training and evaluation of a comprehensive emergency management program.

Most assignments are Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm at WVMCCD campuses. Salary placement is based on education and experience; benefits are not included.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in fire science, public administration, emergency services, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in emergency services administration, communications, business, or public administration preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing a comprehensive emergency management program in education, municipal, state agency, or related field.
• Valid IC-100, IC-200, IC-300, and IC-400 certificates can be obtained within the first year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Organize, coordinate and implement activities for District and campus emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery.
• Provide subject matter expertise at all levels of the organization.
• Develop and maintain a manual of policies and procedures for the position.
• Coordinate development, implementation, education, training and evaluation of the District and college emergency operations plan (EOP).
• Review emergency management publications and integrate into District plans and policies.
• Ensure EOP compliance with local, state and federal requirements and regular updates.
• Oversee staff training and regular drills across the District and college.
• Interface with other agencies and emergency response organizations as needed.
• Maintain currency in the field through conferences, workshops and training.
