Job summary

Desort is seeking an Emergency Practice Veterinarian to join our Sugar Land, TX team. The role focuses on emergency and critical care, managing a diverse caseload with a collaborative, fast-paced hospital environment.

You will diagnose, treat, and monitor urgent cases, working closely with specialists, technicians, and support staff to deliver compassionate patient care. Qualified candidates hold a DVM, license in Texas, and ideally a background in emergency medicine.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
• Active or eligible veterinary license in the state of practice.
• Emergency medicine internship or experience preferred; new graduates with strong interest are encouraged to apply.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment.
• Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat emergency and critical care patients.
• Perform emergency procedures and surgical interventions within the scope of practice.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress throughout hospitalization.
• Collaborate with specialists, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses with clients and referring veterinarians.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
• Participate in case discussions, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Uphold the highest standards of emergency medicine, patient safety, and client service.
