Job summary

Riverview Health in Indiana seeks an Emergency Department paramedic to support patient care, triage, and acute interventions. The role includes phlebotomy, EKGs, IV access, medication administration within scope, and assisting with patient flow during high-acuity periods.

The position requires EMT-P certification with ACLS/PALS/BLS, NRP within 1 year, and prior paramedic experience is preferred. On-site work in the ED with a collaborative clinical team.

Qualifications

• GED or higher is required or equivalent

• Paramedic Certification may be required or preferred

Responsibilities

• Collects and conveys information to RN and physician regarding patient health status in the Emergency Department.
• Communicates information verbally and in writing to the RN for care plan development and modification.
• Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation.
• Initiates emergent or appropriate care under supervision of the ED RN.
• Assists patients to establish and maintain patient flow in the ED.
• Takes vital signs, records intake/output, and applies monitors as requested.
• Initiates lifesaving measures including airway management and chest compressions when needed.
• Stabilizes and extricates injured patients and transports as directed.
• Performs phlebotomy, basic lab procedures, wound cultures, Point of Care testing, EKGs, and IV access.
• Maintains department operations: reports equipment issues, cleans and stocks rooms, answers phones, retrieves supplies.
• May administer limited medications per the ED physician's orders after completion of the Paramedic Pharmacology Exam.
• Other duties as assigned.
