Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a Staff Nurse in Emergency Medicine for a 70% Day shift at the Downtown Campus, Iowa City (500 E Market Street). This part-time role supports a 194-bed hospital providing community-based care within UI Health Care.

You will assess patient care needs, lead the nursing team, and apply nursing theory to practice while coordinating across settings and ensuring safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months ED or critical care nursing experience, or 12 months RN inpatient hospital experience with senior internship within the last year.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ nursing care needs and evaluate care effectiveness.
• Provide leadership to nursing team to maintain care standards.
• Develop and implement patient care plans across the continuum.
• Document interventions and patient/family responses.
• Participate in transfer/discharge planning and safety protocols.
