Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Research Coordinator in the Research Division of the Department of Emergency Medicine. The role leads clinical studies in the Emergency Department and ensures adherence to study protocols and operations manuals.

The candidate will coordinate start-up activities, maintain regulatory documents, enroll patients, obtain informed consent, and manage data collection and CRFs. Some evenings and weekends may be required, and funding is grant-based.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good judgement under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize goals.
  • Motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web browsers.
  • Spanish fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Organize start-up of studies, including protocol submissions to the IRB and training of study personnel.
  • Maintain and organize project documentation and records; prepare protocol renewals.
  • Organize study meetings and study-related processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Human Research Protection and HIPAA regulations.
  • Patient enrollment, including obtaining informed consent.
  • Explain the purpose of the research and diagnostic procedures to patients.
  • Complete patient follow-up as appropriate.
  • Collect data from subject charts, interviews, and other sources.
  • Complete case report forms and ensure completeness.
  • Maintain Essential Documents Binders and regulatory documents.
  • Communicate with the research team and respond to correspondence.
  • Perform training and QA/QC tasks.
  • Some evening and weekend shifts may be required.
  • Position is grant-funded.
