Sound Physicians is seeking an emergency medicine physician to join the team at Aiken Regional Medical Center and The ER at Sweetwater. You will deliver rapid, evidence-based care in high‑volume settings as an independent contractor.

Join a stable, collaborative group with 16 physicians and 9 APPs, on-site ED support, teaching opportunities for APP students and residents, and a community-focused culture that values autonomy and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide care at Aiken Regional Medical Center, a 273-bed community hospital with a 30-bed ED.
• Volume: ~43K annual visits with extensive physician and APP coverage.
• Deliver emergency care at The ER at Sweetwater in North Augusta, GA.
• Engage in teaching opportunities with APP students and residents.
• Be part of a stable, team-focused group prioritizing patient-centered care.

Local Team Collaboration:

• Join a friendly, collaborative emergency medicine team of 16 physicians and 9 advanced practice providers (APPs).

• Enjoy strong partnerships across the hospital, including a solid working relationship with Sound's hospitalist program.

• ED pharmacist and ED-dedicated case manager on site to support patient care, placement, financial assistance, and follow-up needs.

• Accountable, on-site leadership: a local medical director who knows the community and owns the department's performance, supported by Sound's leadership-development tools.

• Stable, well-staffed teams: cohesive teams aligned on our patient-first culture of excellence, which means less reliance on premium temp labor and more predictable shifts.

Qualifications:

• Board-certified/eligible in emergency medicine.

• Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling:

• Full-time commitment as an independent contractor requires 120 hours per month.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide care at Aiken Regional Medical Center, a 273-bed community hospital with a 30-bed emergency department, certified as a chest pain and stroke center.

• Volume: 43K annual visits with 39 hours of daily physician coverage and 30 hours of APP coverage.

• Deliver emergency care at The ER at Sweetwater, a 10-bed freestanding emergency department in North Augusta, GA.

• Volume: 23K annual visits with 24 hours of physician coverage and 12 hours of APP coverage daily.

• Engage in teaching opportunities with APP students and internal/family medicine residents.

• Be part of a supportive, stable, and innovative team that genuinely cares about the community it serves.
