Job Description

The Emergency Medicine Physician (CA) will be responsible for patient care in hospital and clinic settings, as well as participating in research, education, and advocacy initiatives as directed by the Division Chief and/or Executive Director.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree from an accredited medical school. Fully licensed and credentialed as an attending physician at Children’s National Medical Center. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of current medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment principles; understanding of legal and ethical standards; ability to evaluate patients independently; ethical patient care discussion skills; supervisory skills; commitment to continuing medical education; compliance with legal and ethical standards.

  • Oversee medical care teams; manage patient care; refer to specialists; provide on-call services as assigned.

  • Maintain a safe environment following CNMC safety standards; communicate expectations clearly to trainees.

  • Participate in CNMC advocacy efforts and public policy efforts promoting pediatric health.

  • Conduct relevant research; enroll patients in studies; review manuscripts; publish; apply for research grants; participate in research groups.

  • Engage in medical education activities; supervise and train staff and students; provide feedback; ensure proper orientation.

  • Follow policies and standards; complete documentation; participate in quality improvement; report errors; engage in safety initiatives.
