Job Summary
The Physician Assistant will provide patient care in the Emergency Department on a per diem basis. The clinical care areas include acute care and observation at BWH, acute care and observation at Faulkner Hospital, and urgent care at Brigham and Women’s Foxborough Urgent Care sites. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses, ordering and interpreting tests, counseling patients, interacting with family members and colleagues, and prescribing medications. PAs will work under the supervision of an attending Emergency Medicine physician unless they meet the criteria in the EM PA Independent Clinical Guidelines, which requires a minimum of two years of EM experience and demonstration of clinical excellence. The PA will report to the Chief PAs of the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree in Physician Assistant required. Experience cannot be substituted for the degree.
Licenses and Credentials: Physician Assistant license in the state required.
Experience: Preferred experience as a licensed Physician Assistant.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Skilled in taking medical histories, maintaining quality standards, reacting calmly in emergencies, interpreting guidelines, and effective communication.
