Job summary

Ascension is seeking an Emergency Department physician to join the Wamego Health Center team in Wamego, KS. This is a part-time, physician-led role with a backup rotation call structure and access to 24/7 emergency care, on-site imaging, and laboratory services.

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine and KS licensure/DEA eligibility are required. The facility is a 5-bed ED serving about 55,000 people, within a nonprofit Catholic health system.

• Eligible for state medical licensure and DEA registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, high‑quality emergency medical care to patients of all ages.
• Evaluate, diagnose and manage acute illness and injuries.
• Stabilize patients and coordinate transfers where higher levels of care are required.
• Perform emergency procedures as clinically indicated.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.

This job location is currently located in a Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and/or Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUA/P) Shortage Designation Type.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Join an established team of 7 physicians and 3 APPs
• Call structure: Backup Rotation
• Practice setting: Emergency Department
• Access to support staff, 24/7 emergency care, accredited geriatric emergency care, admission (when needed) to Wamego Health Center, on-site full-service digital imaging, on-site lab, private treatment rooms
• Employed position within a nonprofit health system
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
• Eligible for state medical licensure and DEA registration
• Provide timely, high-quality emergency medical care to patients of all ages
• Evaluate, diagnose and manage acute illness and injuries

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Kansas Board of Healing Arts obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
