Job summary

U.S. Army is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to provide critical care to stabilize and treat Soldiers, retirees, and their families.

You will be on the frontline of acute medical care, perform examinations, diagnoses, and initial treatment, with access to advanced technology and training. This role also offers opportunities to participate in research, pursue continued education, and could include Army Reserve options.

Qualifications

  • Must have an MD or DO degree from an accredited US medical school.
  • Current license to practice medicine in the United States, DC or Puerto Rico.
  • Must be eligible for board certification in Emergency Medicine.
  • Must have completed at least one year of an approved GME internship.
  • Must have completed a training program in emergency medicine.
  • Must be a US citizen to serve on Active Duty; permanent residency for Army Reserve.

Responsibilities

  • Provide stabilization and acute care for Soldiers, retirees and families with trauma or acute illnesses.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat or prescribe courses of treatment for initial disease and injuries.
  • Utilize advanced medical technology and participate in continued education and research.

U.S. Army Emergency Medicine Physician’s provide critical medical care to stabilize and treat Soldiers and their families with acute health problems or traumatic injury

As an Emergency Medicine Physician for the U.S. Army, you will have access to the latest and most advanced medical technology and techniques to care for Soldiers, retirees, and their families. You will be on the frontline of treating patients requiring immediate medical attention. You’ll examine, diagnose, and treat or prescribe courses of treatment for the initial phase of disease and injuries. There may be opportunities to participate in developmental research for advancements in your field. To ensure your ability to become a well-rounded physician, you’ll attend trainings, continued education programs, seminars and conferences to broaden your understanding of current practices and techniques in your field.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
  • Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
  • Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
  • Must be eligible for board certification
  • Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
  • Must have completed a training program in emergency medicine
  • Must be a U.S. citizen to serve on Active Duty
  • Must have permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
