This hospital-employed, on-site role features a 15-shifts-per-month schedule (three 10-hour blocks) with double-physician coverage and a lucrative compensation package of $475,000 per year, plus $75k sign-on and $100k retention bonuses.

Responsibilities

Overview

A premier regional healthcare facility is seeking a full-time, Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) Emergency Medicine Physician to join its Emergency Department. This role offers a strong balance of high compensation, double-physician coverage, and a manageable clinical workload designed to reduce burnout, making it an excellent opportunity for a physician seeking a lucrative, hospital-employed practice with a lighter clinical pace and a supportive team environment.

What you'll do

• Provide high-quality emergency medical care within a modern, 32-bed Emergency Department.
• Manage a comfortable patient pace averaging fewer than two encounters per hour.
• Collaborate with a second on-duty physician, maintaining double-physician coverage at all times.
• Stabilize and coordinate transfers for high-acuity trauma and major cardiac cases ("no heads, no hearts") to tertiary care partners.
• Work a predictable rotation of 15 shifts per month using three structured 10-hour blocks (6:00 AM–4:00 PM, 1:00 PM–11:00 PM, or 4:00 PM–2:00 AM).
• Coordinate patient care with on-site specialties, including the hospital's dedicated inpatient psychiatric department.
• Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely electronic medical records for all patient encounters.

Required qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Emergency Medicine (or a relevant specialty with extensive ED experience).
• Active, unrestricted Illinois state medical license (or immediate eligibility to obtain).
• Valid DEA registration.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a team-oriented mindset optimized for a co-coverage model.

Compensation and benefits

• $475,000 per year.
