A prominent government agency seeks emergency medical personnel to provide lifesaving support in critical situations. This role requires certified EMTs or paramedics to handle various medical emergencies, operate emergency vehicles, and maintain high standards of patient care within the community. This classification involves providing basic emergency medical care and transportation under physician's direction, including Basic Life Support (BLS) for the sick and injured, according to Florida State Statutes, Administrative Codes, and protocols authored by the Medical Director. The role requires extensive knowledge in emergency medical procedures, incident command, rescue techniques, hazardous materials response, emergency vehicle operations, patient handling, and geography of Manatee County. The employee must be capable of directing others.
Must pass DOT physical and department-approved agility test. Note: This is a safety-sensitive position requiring random drug testing.
Schedule: 12-hour or 24-hour shifts on / 48 hours off
Indoor/outdoor environment; high noise levels; lifting equipment up to 100 lbs. alone, up to 250 lbs. with assistance, without causing harm or aggravating injuries.
This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon passing pre-employment and random substance screenings. Failure to pass will disqualify the applicant for three years.
Responds to calls; provides emergency care including assessments, extrication, splinting, hemorrhage control, airway management, oxygen therapy, and BLS skills. Performs and interprets ECGs, operates AEDs, obtains vital signs, performs head-to-toe assessments, and treats patients according to protocols. Operates emergency vehicles safely, maintains equipment, participates in training, and may assist in training new staff. Performs advanced life support techniques under supervision for licensed paramedics. Completes reports accurately, communicates effectively, and works in extreme conditions as required. Performs other duties as needed.
