Job Summary

Provides quality 911 basic emergency medical response in the community and surrounding area. Responsible for basic pre-hospital care of patients in a high-impact area with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs patient assessment and provides appropriate treatment according to established protocols in the pre-hospital setting.
  2. Accurately documents patient assessment, treatment, response to treatment, and transfer of care. Responds efficiently to all quality assurance requests.
  3. Operates an ambulance safely, defensively, and courteously, adhering to motor vehicle laws and policies. Ensures vehicle is fueled, operable, and reports issues promptly.
  4. Performs vehicle and equipment checks at the start of each shift. Ensures the vehicle and ready room are stocked and ready for service.
  5. Completes supply inventory as requested.
  6. Maintains all equipment and property in a safe, clean, and secure manner.
  7. Participates in orientation and training of new staff, monitoring performance and providing guidance as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
  1. Previous BLS experience preferred.
  2. Graduate of a recognized Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Training Program.
  3. Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic by the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services.
  4. Current CPR certification at the professional rescuer level, and certifications in PHTLS or ILS and EVOC.
  5. Valid New Jersey driver’s license with a driving record meeting insurance standards.
  6. Complete yearly PPD, Fit Test, Compliance, HIPAA, and Safety training as scheduled.
